Could WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh Be at Risk After Attacks in Saudi Arabia?

WWE’s next event in Saudi Arabia is still scheduled to take place, but a sharp escalation in the country’s security situation has raised questions about the plans for Crown Jewel.

The company and Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority announced Crown Jewel for November 7, 2026, at Riyadh Season Stadium in the capital. WWE has not announced a postponement, cancellation or venue change as of September 19.

The concern follows two separate developments: a drone attack that damaged a major Saudi oil pipeline earlier this month, and an incident near Riyadh’s main airport on Saturday after Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed attacks on targets in the capital.

What Happened Near Riyadh Airport?

Saudi civil defence issued overnight warnings of possible aerial attacks in Riyadh and nearby Al-Kharj before giving an all-clear Saturday morning.

Reuters reported seeing flames and a large plume of smoke near Riyadh’s main airport. The Houthis said they had attacked sites in the capital with missiles and drones, as well as an Aramco facility in the Red Sea city of Yanbu.

At the time of Reuters’ report, Saudi authorities had not confirmed the Houthis’ account of what was struck in Riyadh. The visible smoke and the official alerts establish that a serious incident occurred; the precise cause and extent of the damage still require confirmation.

For WWE, an incident near a major airport naturally raises questions about how an international production would move wrestlers, staff, equipment and fans into the city. Crown Jewel remains seven weeks away, so Saturday’s events alone do not establish that travel will be disrupted in November.

Pipeline Damage Adds to the Wider Crisis

The airport incident comes after attacks on Saudi Arabia’s East–West oil pipeline.

Reuters reported on September 17 that three pumping stations had been damaged and the pipeline had temporarily shut down. Sources gave differing estimates for repairs, with some saying the work could take five to six weeks and another suggesting partial operations could resume sooner.

There is an important distinction between the incidents. Saudi officials said the drones involved in the pipeline attack came from Iraq. That attack should not be attributed to the Houthis based on the available reporting. The Houthis separately claimed Saturday’s operation in Riyadh.

The pipeline shutdown does not directly determine whether a wrestling show can take place. It does, however, show how much pressure Saudi infrastructure is under as the regional conflict intensifies.

Has WWE Changed Its Crown Jewel Plans?

No change has been announced. WWE’s official Crown Jewel announcement still names November 7 and Riyadh Season Stadium at KAFD.

That makes the show’s status straightforward for now: Crown Jewel is scheduled to proceed, while the developing security situation gives WWE and its Saudi partners more to assess before the event.

A decision would depend on conditions closer to November, including the safety of the venue, travel routes and the people attending or working on the show. WWE has not publicly said that it is considering an alternative location.

The stakes extend beyond this one event. WWE’s Saudi partnership is also set to bring WrestleMania 43 to Riyadh in 2027. That larger commitment makes the company’s response to the current situation especially significant.

The clearest update will come from WWE or its Saudi event partners. Fans should watch for changes to the official event listing, ticket information or an explicit statement about Crown Jewel’s status.

For now, calling the show canceled would be premature. Ignoring the attacks would be equally difficult. WWE has a major live event planned in Riyadh, and the coming weeks will determine whether it can be staged there as advertised.
