Indy Grapple News Ranks the Top 50 Independent Wrestlers of 2026

The independent wrestling scene continues to produce some of the most exciting, unpredictable and rapidly rising talent in professional wrestling.

From packed buildings in New Jersey and New York to established promotions throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania and New England, the East Coast remains one of the strongest regions in independent wrestling. Promotions such as GCW, House of Glory, MCW Pro Wrestling, Beyond Wrestling, Wrestling Open, Limitless Wrestling, CZW and Chaotic Wrestling regularly give wrestlers a platform to build their names outside the major companies.

For the first-ever Indy Grapple News Top 50 Independent Wrestlers ranking, we combined male and female competitors into one list.

The rankings primarily focus on wrestlers working throughout the East Coast, with standout talent from the Midwest, South, Texas and West Coast included to complete the national field.

Who Was Eligible?

To qualify for the rankings, a wrestler could not be publicly signed to WWE, AEW, Ring of Honor, TNA Wrestling or another major promotion at the time the list was compiled.

Occasional appearances for larger companies do not automatically disqualify a wrestler. However, anyone publicly announced as being under a major promotional contract was left off the list.

Because professional wrestling contracts can change quickly and are not always publicly disclosed, these rankings are based on the information available at the time of publication.

How the Rankings Were Determined

The Indy Grapple News rankings considered:

• Performance and momentum during 2026

• Championships and tournament victories

• Quality of opponents and bookings

• Activity throughout the independent scene

• East Coast impact

• Drawing power and name recognition

• Overall consistency

These rankings are designed to recognize the wrestlers making the strongest impact on independent wrestling—not simply the biggest former television names appearing on independent events.

The Indy Grapple News Top 50 Independent Wrestlers of 2026

1. Atticus Cogar

Atticus Cogar takes the top position after becoming one of the most recognizable and consistently featured wrestlers on the national independent scene. His presence, character work and ability to deliver in major situations have made him one of the defining independent wrestlers of the current era.

2. Charles Mason

Charles Mason has developed into one of the East Coast’s most complete performers. His character presentation immediately gets a reaction, but his success goes far beyond personality. Mason has continued to deliver against top competition while becoming a major attraction throughout New York, New Jersey and the surrounding region.

3. Mance Warner

Few independent wrestlers can connect with an audience quite like Mance Warner. His wild personality, hard-hitting wrestling style and ability to thrive in almost any environment continue to make him a valuable attraction for promotions across the country.

4. EFFY

EFFY remains one of independent wrestling’s biggest personalities and most reliable draws. Whether competing in a featured singles match, a major storyline or one of the scene’s more unconventional attractions, EFFY consistently generates attention.

5. Donovan Dijak

Donovan Dijak entered the independent scene with national television experience, but he has not treated independent appearances like easy paydays. His size, athleticism and willingness to work against rising talent have quickly made him one of the most important available wrestlers in the Northeast.

6. Dani Mo

Dani Mo has continued building momentum throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Her consistency, versatility and growing profile have made her one of the strongest women currently competing outside the major promotions.

7. Shotzi Blackheart

Shotzi Blackheart brings immediate name value wherever she appears, but her ranking is not based on reputation alone. Her energy, presentation and experience have made her one of the most sought-after names available to independent promoters.

8. Alec Price

Alec Price represents everything fans love about the modern independent wrestling scene. He brings nonstop energy, connects naturally with audiences and continues to deliver against a wide variety of opponents throughout the Northeast.

9. Jordan Oliver

Jordan Oliver has grown from a young prospect into one of the most dependable performers on the independent circuit. His athletic ability, confidence and experience in high-profile matches continue to keep him near the top of the scene.

10. Tiphani Grady

Tiphani Grady rounds out the Top 10 after establishing herself as one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s fastest-rising talents. Her combination of power, presence and steady improvement makes her someone every independent wrestling fan should be watching.

11. Richard Holliday

Richard Holliday continues to carry himself like a main-event performer while remaining one of the most polished personalities available to independent promotions.

12. Joey Janela

Joey Janela remains deeply connected to independent wrestling and continues to attract attention through major matches, unusual opponents and events built around his personality.

13. Dustin Waller

Dustin Waller’s athleticism and consistency have made him one of the standout performers in the New England wrestling scene.

14. Armani Kayos

Armani Kayos continues to emerge as one of New England’s most promising wrestlers, combining natural charisma with an increasingly complete in-ring style.

15. Gabby Forza

Gabby Forza has become a powerful and popular presence throughout the Northeast. Her strength, personality and connection with fans have helped her stand out in a crowded field.

16. KJ Orso

KJ Orso continues to make his presence felt through physical performances and appearances against strong competition across the independent circuit.

17. 1 Called Manders

Manders has built a reputation as one of the toughest wrestlers on the scene. His hard-hitting style and believable presentation make every match feel like a fight.

18. Rebecca J. Scott

Rebecca J. Scott continues to gain attention through strong performances and steady growth throughout the women’s independent wrestling scene.

19. Krule

Kevin Blackwood and Adam Priest remain among the scene’s most respected in-ring competitors, while Shannon LeVangie, Brittnie Brooks and Nahir Robles continue to expand their reach within women’s wrestling.

Darius Carter remains one of New York independent wrestling’s most established personalities, while Dezmond Cole has become a standout attraction within the New England wrestling scene.

Alex Divine receives a major boost after winning the 2026 MCW Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup, one of the most important tournament victories of his career. The win could place Divine in position to make a substantial jump when the rankings are updated.

Joseph Keys also represents MCW Pro Wrestling and the Mid-Atlantic region, while Tiara James, Ichiban and Joseph Alexander continue to make their presence felt throughout the Northeast.

The final ten positions show just how deep independent wrestling has become, particularly throughout the Mid-Atlantic and East Coast.

Veterans such as Mercedes Martinez and O’Shay Edwards remain valuable additions to any independent card, while Allie Katch and AKIRA continue to maintain strong identities within their respective styles of wrestling.

Chris Slade earns the No. 44 position following another impressive showing in the MCW Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup. Slade entered the 2026 tournament as the reigning 2025 winner and advanced all the way back to the final before being defeated by pinfall by Alex Divine. Although he was unable to repeat as tournament champion, reaching consecutive finals further established Slade as one of MCW Pro Wrestling’s most consistent and accomplished competitors.

Gia Scott and Simone Valentina further strengthen MCW’s representation in the rankings through one of the promotion’s most heated current rivalries. Valentina is the reigning MCW Women’s Champion and is currently battling her former teacher, veteran competitor and multiple-time MCW Women’s Champion Gia Scott. Their personal history has added another layer to the championship feud, with the student now attempting to prove she has surpassed the woman who helped train her. Valentina has also started expanding her name beyond Maryland, recently appearing on OVW television and gaining valuable exposure outside the Mid-Atlantic scene.

Wrestlers Who Just Missed the Top 50

Several talented wrestlers narrowly missed the inaugural rankings:

Sunshine Danny Grandview, Kody Lane, Griffin McCoy, Anthony Greene, Sammy Diaz, Kylon King, Danny Orion, Johnnie Robbie, J-Rod, Brooke Havok, , Christina Marie, Anthony Gangone, Shane Mercer, Myrone Malone, Danny Miles, Sam Stackhouse, Ken Dixon and Leah Night.

A strong championship run, tournament victory or breakout performance could easily move any of these names into the next edition.

The East Coast Remains Loaded With Talent

The purpose of this list is not to claim that one wrestler is definitively better than another. Independent wrestling varies dramatically by region, promotion and style.

Some wrestlers are technical specialists. Others are hardcore competitors, high-flyers, heavyweights, characters or proven ticket sellers. Comparing them will always create debate

—and that is part of what makes independent wrestling interesting.

What cannot be debated is the amount of talent currently working outside the major promotions.

Atticus Cogar stands at the top of the inaugural Indy Grapple News rankings, but Charles Mason, Mance Warner, EFFY, Donovan Dijak and the rest of the field are close behind.

With championships changing hands, new promotions emerging and wrestlers receiving opportunities every weekend, the order could look completely different by the end of 2026.
