Two women in purple wrestling gear in a ring, one masked. Bold text: IT WAS WREN ALL ALONG! Lady Shani disguise secures title shot.

Wren Sinclair found a masked route back into NXT’s championship picture.

Despite her storyline suspension, Sinclair entered the October 6 episode’s 20-woman battle royal disguised as AAA wrestler Lady Shani. She emerged victorious, removed her mask and revealed that Kelani Jordan’s newest challenger had been hiding in plain sight.

The match carried an NXT Women’s Championship opportunity at Halloween Havoc on October 31, according to POST Wrestling’s event report.

How Wren Sinclair Pulled Off the Disguise

For much of the closing stretch, Kali Armstrong appeared to be heading toward the biggest opportunity of the night.

Armstrong eliminated La Catalina, Kiana James and Lizzy Rain, then celebrated as though the championship match belonged to her. But one competitor had never officially left the battle royal.

As Fightful’s recap explains, Reina Volcan had earlier dragged the wrestler presented as Lady Shani underneath the bottom rope and delivered a powerslam outside the ring.

That detail became the key to the finish. Going underneath the ropes did not constitute an elimination, leaving the masked competitor eligible to return.

She slipped back inside, eliminated Armstrong and then removed the mask to reveal Sinclair. What initially appeared to be a victory for an AAA representative became a continuation of NXT’s own rivalry between Sinclair and Jordan.

Why Was Wren Sinclair Suspended?

Sinclair’s absence was part of the ongoing television storyline involving her pursuit of Jordan.

On September 8, she attacked the champion after Jordan retained against Jaida Parker. WWE’s official results documented Sinclair’s post-match kendo-stick assault.

PWTorch’s account of that episode also described Sinclair striking referee Victoria D’Errico during the sequence. NXT General Manager Robert Stone subsequently suspended her as security escorted her away.

The disguise allowed Sinclair to bypass that storyline restriction and put herself directly back in Jordan’s path.

A Battle Royal Built Around Multiple Promotions

The match brought together talent from NXT, Raw, SmackDown, EVOLVE, AAA and TNA, as described in WWE’s official match-video listing.

That crossover setting helped make the disguise work as a storytelling device. With competitors arriving from several rosters, an AAA entrant fit the advertised format. The reveal then turned that broad field into a very personal problem for the champion.

It also gave Armstrong a reason to feel robbed. She did much of the decisive work late in the match, only to lose the opportunity while celebrating prematurely.

Does Winning End Sinclair’s Suspension?

Sinclair was recognized as the new No. 1 contender, but the finish does not automatically explain how her suspension will be handled.

The Economic Times’ report reproduced a post-match message from Stone apologizing to Jordan and saying he needed to resolve the situation.

That leaves NXT with two connected storylines: Sinclair has won the advertised championship opportunity, while Stone must address how a suspended wrestler entered his main event.

From an editorial perspective, that tension gives the finish a useful next chapter. Sinclair has forced her way into the title picture, but her methods leave Jordan and management with something to challenge before Halloween Havoc.
